Thriller time - Remembering a historic recording, 25 years later.

I've made three complete trips around the world in the last 18 months and at every club I visited, at peak hour, when they finish all the other things, they go and play "Thriller." I'm happy about it, but it startles me. Twenty five years--that's a long time for a record to still be a part of the everyday swinger's set.

Before we started on "Thriller," I was working on Donna Summer's second Geffen album. I thought it would take four months, but it went seven. In the middle of it, we took a break, and Jackson and I went to Tucson, Arizona, to Paul McCartney's house to do "The Girl Is Mine" because that was the only time he was in town. By the time I finished Summer's record, we only had eight weeks to do "Thriller." Sometimes that's better. You don't have time to sit there and get paralysis from analysis. You just go with your best instincts.

So we had three studios going at once and something going on every day and night. In the back room they were singing through cardboard pipes on "Billie Jean," and we had Eddie Van Halen in the other room, which was amazing.

I was begging Jackson for a black rock'n'roll song and he came up with "Beat It," which was crying out for Van Halen. Vincent Price was perfect casting for the rap on "Thriller." He's the personification of horror, and he did it in two takes because he's a serious pro.

If you listen to God's whispers, the whispers tell you what to do. Of course, none of it would have been possible without my A-Team: Rod Temperton, Bruce Swedien, Jerry Hey, Greg Phillinganes and everyone else that contributed. There's nothing better than creative collaboration. It was exciting because we were very adventuresome then and unafraid. I don't think anything like "Thriller" will ever happen again. Being involved in a record like that is a major, major gift from God.

No sé cómo interpretarlo. Con el morro que acostumbran igual se refieren a algo de The One, aunque ni Will.i.am, ni Akon, ni Fergie ni Kanye West aparecían. Yo aquí lo dejo por si a alguien le interesa.

11 de Febrero: Thriller 25 en sus 3 formatos CD+DVD, CD+DVD (portada Zombies) y edición Deluxe. (supongo que en vinilo tambien)

20 de Febrero: Thriller 25 Expanded Edition (Ed. Japonesa) 26 de Febrero de importación en Amazon USA

Me gustaría conocer más sobre la edición "deluxe" de Thriller 25: contenidos, PRECIO,... lo normal vamos ¿Alguien sabe?

EDIT: En la captura que habeis puesto de iTunes Irlanda... ¿pone MJJ Productions? ¡No sabía nada!

Promusicae ha publicado su segundo calendario provisional de lanzamientos en España:

En esta ocasión, retiran directamente de la lista el supuesto nuevo album de MJ (que aparecía en su primer calendario fechado en mayo o junio si mal no recuerdo); pero traen una buena noticia.

En este calendario, hacen una clasificación entre "Grandes lanzamientos", "lanzamientos medios" o "lanzamientos bajos" en función del dinero que se van a gastar las discográficas en promocionarlo. Thriller 25 está distinguido bajo la distinción "Gran lanzamiento", por lo que se supone que SonyBMG pretende gastarse bastante dinero en promoción, marketing, etc; para promocionar el lanzamiento. Por comparar, el NUEVO album de su hermana Janet está considerado lanzamiento medio, igual que el nuevo de Usher; y están considerados lanzamientos a la altura de Thriller 25 por su presupuesto los nuevos albums de Whitney Houston y Mariah Carey, entre otros.

Kiza pq el nuevo disco d MJ no tiene fecha OFICIAL d salida...ni para Mayo, ni para Septiembre, ni para Diciembre...ni para el año q viene ni para dentro d 12 años...AUN no tiene fecha OFICIAL d salida...

Hasta q el propio MJ, o la discografica q vaya a lanzar el disco den una fecha, todas las fechas q de cualkiera al q se le antoje esta simplemente AVENTURANDOSE, ESPECULANDO, ARRIESGANDOSE...

Yo me alegro q Promusicae haya kitado el nuevo disco d MJ para evitar q la gente se siga confundiendo...

En resumen, parece ser que el single físico de The Girl is Mine saldrá el 4 de febrero en lugar del 28 de enero (en España en todo caso sería el día 5, ya que aquí los discos salen los martes -pensaba que en UK también-); y en el mail hablan de nuevo contenido, tonos para el movil, aplicaciones para la web, y de un anuncio en televisión, entre otras cosas.

¿Se sabe si las canciones originales de Thriller estarán sin tocar? ¿O puede que a alguna le hayan metido mano y la destrocen como hicieron con Earth Song al incluirla en no se qué recopilatorio?
